Participation Group. The
Hawthorn Medical Centre has a very active Patient Participation Group which have
just hosted a Diabetic evening for patients and their friends. More than 100
people attended and enjoyed advice given by guest speakers, Matthew Spencer from
the Swindon Diabetic Society and Gail Richards a Diabetic Nurse from the Great
Western Hospital. Our own Diabetic Nurses were also on hand for advice. Five
Doctors from the practice were available for a question and answer session
before light refreshments were served. Following the success of this event we
are now looking for new venues to hold further informative meetings that will
comfortably accommodate more than 100 people. With
the money raised at various functions by the PPG we are hoping to provide new
chairs for the waiting room. Training
